Sustainability Plan

Giles Junior is committed to building a sustainable school community that helps children understand how everyday choices affect the environment. Our Sustainability Plan sets out practical actions we will take across the school to reduce waste, use resources responsibly, and encourage respectful, informed attitudes towards nature and the wider world.

We will focus on reducing single-use items, improving recycling and reuse, and embedding sustainability into everyday routines. Children will learn through age-appropriate activities such as classroom energy awareness, water-saving habits, and responsible use of materials. We will also strengthen links with local partners where possible to support practical learning, including community clean-ups and nature-based projects.

Parents are an important part of our approach. We will share clear guidance on how families can support the plan at home, such as using reusable bottles and lunch containers, choosing low-waste options, and participating in school events. Together, we aim to create a consistent message across school and home so that sustainability becomes a positive, lifelong habit for every child at Giles Junior.
